A SILVER AND IVORY-MOUNTED SHASHKA Probably 18th century.

The curved 76.2 cm (30 in.) blade and engraved on either side above the hilt with figures of mounted officers, each holding a spyglass and framed by engraved panels. Marine ivory grip with large niello silver bird's head pommel chased with panels of leafy meander. Niello silver scabbard mounts chased with like borders and set with marine ivory panels inlaid with gold tendrils. Condition: Blade showing patches of light pitting and some wear to engraving. Pommel with scattered marks. Scabbard re-leathered.
