on a flared foot, the body with a central cartouche engraved with a gifting inscription Souvenir de sa Majest9 l`Imp9ratrice de Russie le 21 avril 1878 additionally engraved MC on sides, gilded interior, height; 8.3 cm (3 1/4 in.), with swan mark indicating export to France, partially legible dated assayer`s mark, 84 standard


PROVENANCE:
According to Ghislaine Kapandji and Elie Morhange, the souvenir cup comes from the heirs of Jean Pierre Cubat (1844-1922), the French chef to a series of Russian tsars, including Alexander II, Alexander III, and Nicholas II.
